Mangilao’s population was projected to be around 15,539 in 2010. It is made up of a very ethnically diverse community who all live together quite harmoniously in this pleasant village. Plenty of activities are available that the youth can get involved in while nourishing their intellect. They can join anything from athletics clubs to tourism awareness groups. There's more to Mangilao and the neighboring central villages than its education. The village center is located along Route 10 where you can find numerous shops, many local and franchise restaurants, a Bank of Guam and the newly open Payless Supermarket. There is also a Night Market happening every second and fourth Thursday of the month, located next to Santa Teresita Church, across the Mayor’s Office on Route 10. The Thursday Night Market features locally grown fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts, local food, cultural performances, even animals and story-telling for the kids.
If adventure is what you're after, you can trek to Marbo Cave, a freshwater cave on the coast and bring your snorkeling gear along so that you can take a dip and explore its refreshing clear waters. Pagat Cave on the coast is also an adventure as it has a deep freshwater pool as well. Another interesting scenic spot in Mangilao is named Thousand Steps. It features panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and is actually public access to the beach below through Mangilao Golf Course, where you can also enjoy a challenging scenic round of golf. Admiral Nimitz Golf Course is nearby in Barrigada.
